PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Day 72   August 6   Comberland Cove to Charlottown     63km.

Continued on Red Sands Shore Drive into Charlottown. Arrived at campsite at 2:00, set up tent, showered, and headed for town. Hitchhiked into town. Picked up by a gentleman who took it upon himself to be our tourguide. Drove us all around downtown Charlottown pointing out all the things of interest. We had a beer on the sidewalk at a pub on Queen Street opposite the Arts centre and watched the world walk by. Visited Provincial House National Historic Site known as the Birthplace of Confederation. Went to Peake's Warf for lobster supper and walked back to the campsite. Jean fell in love with PEI.

Day 73    August 7    Charlottown to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia     90km.

Took Highway 26 and haghway 1 to Wood Islands where we took the ferry to Nova Scotia. We stopped at the Tourist Info at Pictou. The lady there was very helpful and because of her tomorrow is all planned right down to the campsite. It was cloudy all day and when we got off the ferry it was really hot. Took Highway 106 to new Glasgow the area so we took a motel (Motel Tara). Went to pizza delight for supper. Had a pizza buffet with apple and blueberry pizza for desert. Yummy.
